Scale: the machine killer

Why distilled is also wrong

Faced with the scale problem, a reasonable person thinks: use water with no minerals at all, and there is nothing to scale up. It is a trap, for two reasons.   • If your tap water is very hard, bottled low-mineral water or a proper hardness-reducing filter is worth it, both for taste and to slow scale dramatically.
